Overview:
Running an analysis with inserts is done by looking at the heat transfer between the insert and the polymer and how the part insert influence the plastic warpage. Most of the time, the insert is placed in the tool at near room temperature while the mold may be much hotter. This difference in temperature will have effect on the how the polymer flows over the insert and its cooling rate. An analysis with a solid mesh will pick up this effect. In warpage, inserts are nearly rigid and will retard shrinkage in the area of the insert.

FloEFD Introduction and Hands-On Workshop

This 3-hour workshop will provide an introduction to Mentor Graphics latest FloEFD software. The main goals of the course are to make the student familiar with the operation and functionality of FloEFD, and show how how it can be used to simulate a wide range of flow and thermal analysis problems.

There will be a brief introduction lecture followed by hands-on tutorials and demonstrations to illustrate important points. There will be two alternative sets of examples for mechanical and electronics applications. The combination of these is designed to show the student the range of functionality available in FloEFD, and how they can utilize them effectively over a range of different applications.

What You Will Learn

In attending the workshop, you will learn the fundamental operation and functionality of the FloEFD software, including:
