Press Releases PTC Donates Software Valued At $180 Million Dollars To 200 Chinese Secondary Vocational Schools

NEEDHAM, MA. – July 8, 2010 - PTC (Nasdaq:PMTC), the Product Development Company®, has announced the expansion of its technological literacy movement in China by the signing of a software donation agreement with the Department of Vocational and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (MOE). According to the agreement, PTC will offer Pro/ENGINEER® Schools version software to a pilot group of 200 secondary vocational schools under the MOE. The commercial value of this donation is US$180 million. In addition to the software, PTC is providing its comprehensive education program that includes curriculum, project-based materials, teacher resources, and online learning. These materials center around STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects. PTC and the Ministry are committed to rolling out the program to all the secondary vocational schools throughout China to encourage and support students to excel in STEM subjects.

MOE actively encourages and supports institutions to promote the implementation of the PTC Education Program, using Pro/ENGINEER software for teaching practice. Ge Daokai, Director of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education of MOE said, “We are very pleased to work with enterprises like PTC. This MOU signing is a continuation of PTC’s long and rich relationship with MOE. Since 1995, PTC has been working with MOE to provide its software and training to academic institutions. In 2007, PTC and MOE formalized their relationship with a commitment from PTC to assist in developing China’s engineering education. Over 2000 high schools are already participating in PTC’s education program. Starting in 2008, PTC has also developed several strategic relationships with top tier universities, including Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Tongji University, for teaching and research purposes.
